The 51st Annual Johnny Lopez State Golf Tournament was held the weekend on September 12th-14th in Beaumont, Texas. Bayou Din Golf Club and Brentwood Country Club were the host courses for the weekend. 

Friday kicked off with a 4 person scramble at Brentwood Country Club. Bishop David Toups kicked off the event with prayer and then proceeded to lead his team to a birdie on the first hole. The Friday scramble was won with a score of 59 from the Foursome of Pat Kalina, Glen Boudoin, John Geer and Mike Gaffey. After the scramble, Friday evening, Groves Council #3491 hosted a jambalaya dinner with a live band providing entertainment for the out of town golfers.

Saturday and Sunday the two courses held a stroke play tournament. In all, 155 golfers participated representing 8 diocese across the State. Saturday evening, Bishop David Toups presided over a mass with the golfers from the tournament to a wonderful showing.
