Mexican Martyrs Relic Tours Texas

From April 20th to May 5th, the Mexican Martyrs Relic made a tour across seven dioceses across the State of Texas.

The tour started on April 20th with a stop at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Lubbock. 250 people were on hand for Veneration and Mass which was held on Easter Sunday and hosted by Council #15876. There was a 4th Degree fallout for the occasion.

From Lubbock, the Relic travelled to the Diocese of San Angelo and the city of Midland.60 parishioners were on hand as Council #9215 hosted a Veneration and Mass which was celebrated by Fr. David Herrera and assisted by Deacon Ignacio "Nacho" Villa.

The next stop on the tour was a stop at the 121st Texas State Convention in Corpus Christi. After the Convention's opening Mass, the Texas Knights on Bikes escorted the Relic to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish where 50 parishioners witnessed the Relic entering the church and its placement on the Alter. A service of Adoration, A Holy Rosary and Mass were all part of the gathering before being transported back to the State Convention for further Adoration.

The Mexican Martyrs Relic left Corpus Christi at noon following the conclusion of the 121st State Convention for a 5 day stay in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. On Monday April 28th, the Relic was taken to MD Anderson Hospital where prayers were offered for an extremely ill Past Grand Knight of Council #14617. On the evening of the 28th, the Relic arrived at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic where Council #12818 in coordination with the Men's ACTS team hosted a Veneration Service in the Chapel of the Evangelization Center at the church. On the 29th, the Relic remained at St. Charles Borromeo, where a Veneration service was held that evening in the main church. From there the Relic traveled on the 30th to St. Juan Diego Council #10562 where hundreds passed through during Veneration and approximately 200 attended Spanish Masses that day. And on May 1st, the Relic travelled to Alief, TX to St. Justin Martyr Parish. Council #8293 hosted a Rosary in Spanish followed by a Veneration. More than 100 from around the area attended these services.

On May 3rd, the Mexican Martyrs Relic made its way to the Diocese of Austin. More than 200 people attended St. Louis King of France Catholic Church for a Veneration service. At the conclusion of the service and Exemplification of Charity, Unity and Fraternity was held where 3 new brother Knights joined the Order.

Later in the day, the Relic arrived in the Diocese of Ft. Worth for an unannounced stop at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, coordinated by Council #13408. After the evening Mass, where 250 attended, a Veneration was held. 50 parishioners came forward with rosaries and prayer cards. On Sunday, May 4th, the Mexican Martyrs Relic was in attendance for 4 masses at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Ft. Worth. This church has been designated as a Holy Door church for the Jubilee Year. The main sanctuary holds 1,000 people and the Relic was present at all four masses with Veneration held in between each mass. The host council at Our Lady of Guadalupe was Council #16258.

The last stop on the Relic Tour took place at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, in the Diocese of Dallas. The program included a rosary, holy hour, bilingual Mass and reception hosted by Council #16375. The day concluded with an Exemplification of Charity, Unity and Fraternity in which we welcomed 3 new Brother Knights into the Order.
