COR

A flexible framework of prayer, formation and fraternity that helps focus men on Jesus through building Christ-centered brotherhood.

“Cor ad cor loquitur” - Heart Speaks to Heart - St John Henry Newman main element with Cor logo

At the heart of every Knight of Columbus, is a deep relationship with Jesus Christ, knowing that God loves us, He died for our sins, and the need to radically reorient our lives to strive for Heaven. At the heart of every Knight of Columbus, is our Catholic faith, which invites us to seek holiness through our Baptism and daily prayer. At the heart of every Knight of Columbus, is a desire to build the Kingdom of God by being a disciple of Jesus Christ; therefore having the courage to share with others the Good News of Jesus Christ and His Church. At the heart of every Knight of Columbus council we aim to establish COR, to form and strengthen Catholic men in faith and virtue as missionary disciples by drawing them into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, formation, and fraternity. The goal of each COR gathering is to provide the opportunity for men, all men of the Parish to encounter Jesus Christ, to strive to be more Christ like, to strengthen our bonds of brotherhood, and to prepare for the courageous mission of evangelization. COR: latin for heart and the root word for courage. If we think of our faith-life as a grape vine, we need structure to keep us on the right path. Formation in our Catholic faith and catechesis are the trellis, the structure and guide which we grow up around. But in order to grow strong, we need some additional components. Fraternity, we need good soil, like a strong brotherhood that surrounds us, protects us and sustains us allowing us to be rooted as we grow. We also need prayer, which nourishes like water and feeds like the sun. Prayer is an essential in our faith life, it is where where we dialogue and encounter God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. "[Prayer] is a vital and personal relationship with the living and true God (CCC 2558)."So prayer and fraternity are the catalysts for growth with formation being the guiding structure. Cor can be extremely fruitful for the growth of any existing mens ministry with a formation focus by feeding men with intentional prayer and strengthening with fraternity.

Cor is intentional time for prayer, formation and fraternity for all men of your Parish. Cor can be started on its own or be tailored to strengthen existing mens ministry already bringing men together in your parish.

Prayer: reciprocal relationship between God and man where man responds to God's invitation, then encounters the Creator Formation: lifelong process where we become more like Christ through knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith. Fraternity: sharing in a common mission, faith, and brotherhood See “the three elements of COR” set up similar to how Supreme has it https://www.kofc.org/cor
