Memorial Council 6527 presented donation checks to the Gabriel Project of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and the Houston Coalition for Life. The donations were funded from the net proceeds of the council's annual dinner and auction event in support of life-affirming institutions.
This pro-life, pastoral ministry supports mothers faced with a difficult or crisis pregnancy. The Gabriel Project® helps women in crisis pregnancies by offering Christian love and practical solutions at the parish. The Gabriel Project provides compassionate, practical help for expectant mothers who have little or no support or resources in their lives. Without the help of the Gabriel Project, some of these women might still not choose life for their babies. They also connect each expectant mother in the Gabriel Project with a Gabriel Angel. Gabriel Angels support the mother's choice for life through prayer, encouragement, and emotional and spiritual support. This past October they were blessed to launch a new ministry called Walking With Moms In Need. This pastoral ministry is intended to engage, educate, and empower Gabriel Project moms so they can set forth a path towards stability for themselves and their families.
The representatives of the Houston Coalition for Life were beyond grateful to the council for the generous support towards their life-saving mission. The donation will directly support the free services they provide through their Blue Blossom Pregnancy Centers, Maternal Assistance Program, and Curriculum of Life classes. Over the years, many Knights of Columbus councils have supported their mission and helped purchase each and every one of their ultrasound machines. They thanked us for standing with them to protect and save lives, noting that our impact will be felt for generations to come!
