During their April meeeting, Council #9626 awarded $500 college scholarships to graduating seniors at San Martin de Porres Parish. Eligibility criteria included being a graduating senior from a local public, Catholic, or home high school during the current academic year, registered as a family member at San Martin de Porres or Santa Teresita Mission, and a child of a Knights of Columbus member in good standing.
The recipients were Javier Gonzalez, Kylie Vega, Maya Lopez, Noah Godines, and Patricio Sanchez. They were honored during the 12:30 Graduation Mass last Sunday. Notably, Kylie Vega also received the Knights of Columbus State Grant for the Diocese of Laredo. Funding for these scholarships was generated through a Golf Tournament and Fish Fry during Lent. We extend special gratitude to the San Martin community, Knights of Columbus Council members, and the Scholarship Committee.
