A recent episode of At Home in the Church on Catholic Television of San Antonio featured three young Catholic leaders who are helping lead a renewal of the Knights of Columbus on college campuses and in seminary formation programs across the city.
The episode brought together seminarian Jesus Sanchez, Stephen Garcia of St. Mary’s University, and Jordan Delgado, a founder of the UTSA Knights of Columbus chapter who now serves as District Deputy for the college councils in San Antonio.
Sanchez shared his experience founding a Knights of Columbus council at the seminary, describing how the council has helped foster fraternity, spiritual growth, and a deeper spirit of service among men preparing for the priesthood.
Garcia, an officer and founding member of the St. Mary’s University council, spoke about the challenges and rewards of building a Catholic fraternal community on campus and giving students a place to grow in faith, leadership, and service.
Delgado reflected on his work founding the UTSA council and on his current role supporting and coordinating the expanding network of college councils throughout the San Antonio area. He discussed both the early challenges of starting from nothing and the long-term fruits of persistence and consistent presence on campus.
Together, the three discussed the practical and spiritual challenges of founding new councils, as well as the successes they have seen in attracting young men, building fraternity, and strengthening Catholic identity across college campuses and in seminary life.
The episode highlights a broader effort in the Archdiocese of San Antonio to invest in young adult and vocational formation and to ensure that the mission of the Knights of Columbus continues to thrive among the next generation of Catholic leaders.
